Damage Status And Nursing Measures Of Injection Molds

Aug 14, 2023

Injection molds should be tested for various performance under normal operation of the injection molding machine and mold, and the dimensions of the final molded plastic parts should be measured. Through this information, the existing state of the mold can be determined, and the damage to the cavity, core, cooling system, and parting surface can be identified. Based on the information provided by the plastic parts, the damage status and maintenance measures of the mold can be determined.
Springs and other elastic components are most susceptible to damage during use, often resulting in fracture and deformation. The method adopted is to replace. During the replacement process, it is necessary to pay attention to the specifications and models of the spring. The specifications and models of the spring are confirmed through three items: color, outer diameter, and length. Only when all three items are the same can they be replaced.
During the use of mold products, the punch is prone to breakage, bending, and gnawing, and the punch sleeve is generally gnawed. The damage to the punch and punch sleeve is usually replaced with parts of the same specification. The parameters of the punch mainly include the size of the working part, the size of the installation part, and the length size.

The parts also need to be fixed from time to time, and it is necessary to regularly check whether the fastening parts are loose or damaged. The method adopted is to replace them with parts of the same specification.
During maintenance, check the relationship and damage of various parts of the accessories, repair the damaged parts, and inspect the pneumatic top material for any air leakage. Take measures for specific situations. Replace if the air duct is damaged.
Key tracking and testing should be carried out on several important components of the mold: the function of the ejection and guide components is to ensure the opening and closing movement of the mold and the ejection of the plastic part. If any part of it gets stuck due to damage, it will lead to production stoppage. Therefore, it is necessary to regularly maintain the lubrication of the mold ejector pin and guide pillar (using the most suitable lubricant), and regularly check whether the ejector pin and guide pillar have deformation and surface damage. Once found, it should be replaced in a timely manner;
After completing a production cycle, professional anti rust oil should be applied to the working surface, movement, and guide components of the mold, with particular attention paid to protecting the elastic strength of the bearing parts of the mold with gears and racks, as well as the spring mold, to ensure that it is always in optimal working condition;
At the same time, attention should be paid to the cleaning of the cooling channel, as the longer the time, the easier it is for the cooling channel to deposit scale, rust, sludge, and algae, resulting in a smaller cross-section of the cooling channel and narrower cooling channel, greatly reducing the heat exchange rate between the coolant and the mold, and increasing the production cost of the enterprise. For hot runner mold products, the maintenance of heating and control systems is beneficial in preventing production failures
