What Is Plastic Small Injection Moulding Machine?

A plastic small injection molding machine is a type of machine used in the manufacturing process of plastic products through injection molding. Injection molding is a manufacturing process in which molten material, typically plastic, is injected into a mold cavity under high pressure. The molten material then solidifies inside the mold, taking its shape, and is ejected as a finished product once cooled.

A small injection molding machine is typically used for producing small to medium-sized plastic components.

How Does The Injection Machine Work?

An injection molding machine works by heating plastic resin pellets until they melt and then injecting the molten plastic under high pressure into a mold cavity.

Clamping: The first step is to close the mold. The two halves of the mold (the stationary side and the moving side) are brought together by the clamping unit of the machine. This creates a closed space, known as the mold cavity, into which the molten plastic will be injected.

Injection: Plastic resin pellets are fed into a hopper at the top of the machine. These pellets are then heated and melted inside a barrel using a combination of heat and mechanical action from a screw mechanism. Once the plastic is sufficiently melted, the screw pushes it forward into a narrow passage called the injection nozzle.

Injection into the Mold: The injection nozzle injects the molten plastic into the mold cavity under high pressure. The plastic fills the cavity and takes on the shape of the mold.

Cooling: After the mold cavity is filled, the molten plastic inside begins to cool and solidify. This process may be aided by cooling channels within the mold itself or by external cooling systems.

Ejection: Once the plastic has cooled and solidified, the mold opens, and the newly formed plastic part is ejected from the mold cavity by ejector pins or other mechanisms.

Recovery and Recycling: Any excess plastic that remains in the barrel after injection is typically retracted by the screw and either recycled or discarded. The mold closes again, and the cycle repeats for the next part.

What Can You Make With Our Small Injection Machine?

The Injection machine is often used for small productions of very precise objects. Objects tend to be fairly small as there is only as much plastic that you can fit in the barrel. Some people have hacked the Injection machine to have a bigger or longer barrel so they can make bigger objects but by default, you want to think small-ish.
